i just got the 3d bear pan last night and am really excited to try it but i'm so scared! last time i tried a character pan, the stars would not stick to the cake... i want to make the baby bear for my baby shower coming up on the 20th and was wondering if anyone has any tips for me on this. i'd like to make a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting but the directions say that you should use a pound cake... any advice would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

I just made a chocolate bear cake for my sister's baby shower. (It's in my pictures.) I used DH Dark Chocolate Fudge cake mix and added a box of chocolate pudding and an extra egg into the mix along with the other ingredients. I also substituted milk for the water. This makes the cake firmer.

When I baked the cake, I did not use the heating core. Someone gave me the tip that it was not needed. I've also read that people who've used the heating core has had problems taking it out. I lower the temperature to 325 F and cooked it for a bit longer than the recommended time.

Hello, I also do not recomend to use the core, If you see my pictures I did a baby bear for a 1st birthday, I used yellow cake mix and added a vainilla pudding mix and brandy icon_wink.gif . Hope this helps.

I made that little bear! He is sooo cute. To make the stars stick on try icing a crumb coat first and then your stars should stick. Best of luck!
