That is a good idea! I thought of just the opposite--I lowered myself rather than raising the cake! I sat on an ottoman at my kitchen table so I was more level with the cake--worked well! One time I also did basketweave setting on my living room floor with the cake on my coffee table--it was a big one (16" I think?) and the last of 5 for a wedding cake...I was pretty tired!
