Slightly Rounded--How?

Do any of you have a tool you use to smooth the icing where the side meets the top of your cake? I'd like a slightly rounded corner there when using buttercream, but I can't think of exactly how to get that.

Maybe that's what the piece from the soda bottle is for, but I still can't quite "see" how that works. icon_confused.gif

i use a crusting icing and just lay my viva over the edge and smooth with my hand
