I was in the grocery store the other day and they had a magazine with 131 cake recipes in it. I have not seen this mag before. Taste of Home is the name and this month is about Cakes! I was hoping every month was about cakes but when I went to their website http://www.tasteofhome.com/ only this month is. It has some recipes I want to try........anyway.........just wanted to pass this along. ![]()

LOL...that is the same one that I mentioned in a thread a month or so ago. I have not made anything from it yet. There is also a Betty Crocker one out there that has cakes, cookies, and bars. I am always on the look out for magazines. I have seen the smaller one put out by Pillsbury too. ![]()
I have this magazine.. I like it. The recipes are simple and good.
The decorating is also very basic amd simple, since it is not the main focus of the magazine. It's still in the stands. I got min in Feb. ![]()
That's ok...That thread is probably on the bottom of the pages anyways. I should have scanned it ~ good idea. I forgot to add on the other post though, they could have done a better job of icing some of those cakes. I mean if they are done by a professional?!
But they do put more "food" magazines. Dinner etc. I have not picked up any of those yet. I have to thumb though them when I am at the store again. ![]()

? about your course 2 final cake, beautiful BTW. Did you make all the flowers in the last class or did you have to save the ones from each class to put on the final cake? I just started course 2 monday.

LOL...my one and only picture...I'll have to put more on here...I made some in class. The instructor showed us. And the rest I made at home because my royal icing was too watery. My flowers were "melting" into one another. Make sure all your utensils are grease free. Wash in either hot soapy water and rinse or do that and a white vinegar rinse. When I made the rest of my flowers at home I had to add more powdered sugar. And at that time to I used a hand mixer. I now have a KA and that helps the hand and the royal icing. They say to make extra for breakage. I still have some left over. In my opinion, I put too many flowers on the top because I could not write anything on it. (happy birthday, best wishes etc) for practice. I was thinking of doing another one to practice my flowers, but I will cheat and do the easy ones for me. LOL. The daffodils gave me trouble. But it was fun over all. I finished my cake at home because we ran out of time. The basketweave took forever! Anyways, sorry so long. I need to take another class just so I can practice that stuff again! LOL Thanks for the nice comment.
