I have an order for a cake shaped like a mans watch. I am having a problem with the color. Does anyone know if I could tint the fondant to be a shiny silver or if luster dust will do the trick? Please help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You would want to tint the fondant a gray, and then brush over it with silver luster dust mixed with vodka or everclear after the fondant it dry. That will give it the shiny metallic look you're wanting.

Thanks for your help. What is the ratio of liquid to luster dust? Is there anything else I could use instead of vodka or everclear?

you can also use lemon extract or any extract as long as it has a high alcohol content. i've used mint extract as well. as far as ratio, i've never measured, i just play with it a little at a time until i get it to the consistency i want. good luck!
