Ok ladies & gents.... I need help w/ some ideas for a babyshower cake due next Sunday. They want it to match an invite they have. I was thinking doing the buttom tier white w/ all those stripes in diff. color then cover the top in that greenish color, if I can match it. Maybe try to put a ribbon & bow on that tier on the edge covered that w/ pearl dust. I
wanted to put booties on top....

Now how do I incorporate the carriage into it? Or should I? Keep in mine that I will also be doing a wedding cake the same weekend so time may be an issue.

Any ideas? Oh, would any body know what color I could use to match that green?

Should I nix the booties & just try the carriage instead? If so, how should I make the carriage?

I think you should put the carriage on top rather than the booties. Like this cake inspired by a Wilton design. Make the carriage out of gumpaste and mount it on a lollipop stick.

That's a great cake. The carriage would match those invitations well. I vote for that as wellicon_smile.gif

I agree....do the carriage. As for the green, I have a "willow" green paste color from wilton that I use to achieve that color, use just a little at a time until you get he desired shade.

for the carriage you could also do fct, just use the invite place parchment paper over it trace around with melted chocolate and fill in it's really easy. I think there is a post about it somewhere around here I wsa reading about it last night. JUst search for chocolate transfers.

thanks... but how would I get it to stand as the topper? see how the bottom instead of wheels it has the scrolls...or I shouldn't look at it so closely?

add the wheels instead so that you can use them to cover the sticks. most people wont even notice the little minor things that you change- they will think it matches perfectly anyway!!! besides it is for the better of the design- who wants to see sticks?

yes, you can make small batches of gumpaste. i usually cut it in quarters or even less, because i dont use it often either. just make sure your math is right.

I don't know if it would work with MMF but with Wilton's fondant, you can add gumtex to it to make it like gumpaste and then you don't have to make gumpaste...
