Im wanting to do my first stacked cake using two of the wilton pans in the 3 piece set that has 6", 12" and 18" pans. I could not find the square dividers at either craft store in my area. I was planning on doing one layer of the two smaller sizes.

What should I put between them? And in what order do I put the icing? Do I icing the entire bottom layer first, then plce the top layer on and icing it? Any guidance is appreciated!

Thanks in advance
Kathy

Sorry, they are called seperator plates, not dividers. I was under the impression I had to use these as was indicted on the Wilton instructions.

I am all for it if I do not have to use the seperator plates!!

You buy boards for sheet cakes and cut them to the sizes needed.

All of my cakes have plastic separator plates between the tiers, whether they are pillared or cake-on-cake. It's not so much the plate but the doweling system.

Either way, plates and pillars or cardboards and dowels. Whatever you are comfortable with. As far as the process goes, you ice each cake separately then stack them all up. You can do the final decorating separately or once they are all together depending on the design and how you would like to work.
