I took an order a while ago, everything was fine. But I am pregnant and moving and very tired all the time.....so the 48 cupcakes with fondant bows are to be deliverd at 3 today (it is now 9 am my time). I like to wait for the last minute for things. I usually work beter under presure and I have a tiny apartment with 2 kids, so there is no room to do in advance. Anywya, I baked the cupcakes last night and a friend came over and helped me make all the loops for the bows. I am following the directions in the book but I tink they are ugly. I was hoping that this would be a good way to get more business but if they don;t lok great its going to be embarasing.
I know that i am very hard on myself.... oh did i mention that i havnt picked up a decorating bag or touched icing in 4 months? Because I have ben so sick...(i have lost 19 lbs and I am pregnant.....)..... so I need some ideas.....truthfully from the pics is it that bad? I can;t be more upset than i am now so please tell me. Also anyone have any ideas how to make them better?
HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!
-S
(oh i have to add the pic in a minute)

Don't be discouraged! There is a time in every decortors life where we aren't at the top of our game. I think your reason is very valid. You are going through a rough time hormonally....emotioanlly... physically...give yourself a break! Step back, take a breath and relax! In the grand scheme of the world, it's only cake.

Don't give up! icon_wink.gif

hethere. if the fondant bows arn't turning out as well as you had planned, why not get some blue ribbon and make regular bows to put on top, it depends though how attatched they are to fondant. it's just an idea in case the fondant doesnt work. i use regular ribbons all the time in my work and people love it, and it is a lot faster, they just pull them off when they eat. i can't imagine being pregnant and sick and decorating so my heart goes out to you. good luck icon_biggrin.gif

Relax. It will be just great. The bows. Are they more than two loops? If so noone will notice that you don't think they are not perfect. Once you put them all together it will be fine. I know that being pregnant can cause quit an imbalance in feelings. Just cry it out and then shake if off. You will do just fine.

((Hug)) It'll be okay! You're probably just being hard on yourself...why do we do that!?! You're gonna get these done, and I'm sure it's gonna turn out fine and then you're gonna go soak in a bath and then put your feet up cuz you deserve it!

Chefperl, I cried over cake today too and I'm not even pregnant, moving or have any kids (but I am PMSing). I can only imagine what you went through. I'm so glad things worked out for you. Isn't it wonderful to have this site to go to when you go through things like this. There is always someone else who has felt your pain and totally understands. It's really hard for non-cakers to understand how a cake can drive you to tears. So, you were not alone in your frustration or anxiety today. Mine worked out okay in the end too.

I'm glad you're feeling better.

Yvette
