I know this is long, but PLEASE HELP!

I am going to make my own wedding cake and have a few questions.

I want to make a square cake with 4 layers - 16", 12", 9", and 6". I have looked all over the Wilton website and cannot find a square 9" pan or these 4 sizes in the same type of pan. Nor, can I find the cake plates of these sizes.

I called a local bakery, which is where I took my cake decorating classes in my area and this is how they told me that they make their 4 layer square cakes. Is this just not possible or am I looking in the wrong place! I am going to use "hidden pillars" to stack the cakes...

I am getting disappointed because I don't know what to do! Can anyone help me?

Magic line makes the odd sized pans and you can use a slightly smaller plate than the cake (even round ones work) so that it doesn't show.

I just use a 10" and cut it to 9" /1" off 2 sides

cut 1/2" off of each side. Otherwise you end up with an 8" square. thumbs_up.gif

No she was right, she said one inch off of only TWO sides. thumbs_up.gif Well you are both right actually...just two different methods. Its easier to cut two sides than all four sides...better chance of getting it perfectly square.
