I can't get Ghirardelli Dipping chocolate anymore (from Sam's) until the Christmas holidays, and I'm looking for a substitute. I've seen the Premiere Wilton CandyMelts, and I'm wondering if the quality is noticeably better than their regular CandyMelts?

You might try Guittards melts. They are excellent. I just make chocolate covered mini Oreos with them, in the shape of frogs. I think you'll really like the tasts of them.

Fairytale, where do you get the Guittards melts? Is it something you buy online?

I buy mine in the local cake supply, at Sur La Table, or at the local chocolate store. However, I never occured to me that they might just be sold on west coast. They have an online store, but I didn't see the melts. You might do an internet search.

There is a link for purchasing Guittards melts online in one of the threads I posted.

I've seen the Guittard CHIPS, but not the melts. And I was at a Sur La Table this weekend! The woman at the store recommended (jokingly, I assume) that I should take a trip out to California to pick them up.

Found on King Arthur Flour website. But they just have the bittersweet.
