I just posted my first picture and BCT . but let me tell you that it wasn't without pain ! ( Elvis tranfert )
Ok , so I mix my cake . put it in the stove , take it out and argh ! Wasn't level at all !!! So took a knife, and try to level it...

I prepared my bc 2 days ago with some dryness problems. So Yesterday , I puy more liquid. Look good , and I make my crumbcoat ... My icing was too thin. It didn't crust ! ( too mutch liquid maybe icon_twisted.gif )
Add some powderd sugar to fix it...look ok.

Different problem with my black icing. Forgot to put liquid !
So when piping time arrived , guess what ! Wasn't able to do so.
So , add more liquid.

And then an other problem.
I did my BCT on a parchemen paper. Well , my icing wouldn't stick on it.
It was always pulling back if I came too near with the " filling "
And lets forgett about the thin coat of bc on the back on it ! The tranfert wanted to make one with the thin coat ...ARGH ! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif

And I don't know why , my icing looks shiny...Do you know why ?
And why my icing wasn't stiking on the paper ?

But the tranfert was without any problems...My border are not what you call perfect , but at 1 am, I didn't care...( It was for me and my DH familly and they really where happy about the cake )

Practice makes perfect ? Hope so !

I think you'll have better luck putting the bct on waxed paper than on the parchment, with the other problems...I gues it is just practice, practice, practice!

All in all I think you did well, the bct looks exactly like Elvis! Good work! Janice

My bad...I used wax paper , the Reynolds one.
Is there a better side of the wax paper for the BCT ? Cause I thought that maybe that was my problem...

I misunderstood, thought you made the bct on parchment. Both sides of the waxed paper should be the same. You don't mention putting the transfer in the freezer at all, did you do that between doing the outline and then putting in the filler and then again before adding the backing layer? Just trying to figure out what the problem might be.

My first bct I didn't do any outline/border and the whole thing shifted and "made one" as you said, needless to say, that one went into the garbage.
The second one came out better, but I didn't get a true Mirror Image of my lettering so had to cut the lettering off and just use the flowers! My bct experience is not too good. Janice

Hi Janice. I thought that I used parchment but I really used wax paper.
And I only put the BC in the freezer once it was finished.

I first did the white outline, fill the white , and then continue my BC in black. Once everything was " colored" , it went in the freezer.
From there , everything was ok ( putting it on the cake ). I did my not-so-good-looking my borders half-asleep in the cake , and did not have mutch BC to do something pretty...

Oh and I forgot , my cat LOVES the BC ! I left the transfert for about 1 minute and when I came back , some of the face was missing !
Everything that could go wrong went wrong ! Have to laught icon_lol.gif

So , better luck next time ! thumbs_up.gif

I think your cake turned out great! I'm sure when you do another BCT it will be easier, with the advise and practice.
I really don't know how to do a BCT and would like to learn. Any tips and/or instructions?

Hi Momof3.
To get my icing black , I first put cocoa powder in the icing. ( until my icing tasted like chocolate...) Then , added the black tinted gel. I did that during 3 days ( put some thursday , some friday and then saturday ).
Black is like the red tint. It gets darker if you wait some time. Saturday my icing looked like a dark gray and sunday , black.

And thanks for your comment !
