I FOUND THAT USING A SCALE TO WEIGH EVERYTHING HAS
SAVED MY LIFE. A WOMAN TOLD ME YOUR BEST FRIEND IN BAKING
IS YOUR MIXER AND SCALE, AND SHE WAS RIGHT!
JUST PASSING TO YOU ALL THAT A SCALE IS A GOOD IDEA
ON WEIGHING YOUR SUGAR AND BAKING EXTRAS.

I Love My Scale....I would have a lot more problems than I do have, if I didn't have it!!!! Allows me to put same amounts in each pan...Looks are deceiving.

I like mine b/c I can then buy more things in bulk and know that I'm getting the amount right instead of measuring volume.

What I love most about using my scale is the shortning. I tare my scale to zero after I have put on a bowl, then simply add shortning to the bowl till I have 8oz(1 cup) or whatever measurement I need. No more trying to force shortning into a plunger cup or a regular measureing cup. Horah!

I use a simple kitchen scale for now (hoping for a nice one soon). Even though it's analog and a little simplistic, it sure has kept me from a total disaster or two. I use it when I make bread, also. Keeps me from getting unequal loaves.
mushbug9, that is the *greatest* idea ever! I've gotten pretty good at mushing the shortening, but it's time consuming and still a bit unreliable. Grandma taught me the water displacement method, but that's *taboo* when making icings (unaccounted-for water sticks to it). This is just great! No more mushing! Thank You!
