I think I'm going to try it for the first time. I have a couple of questions. I've seen cut-outs done in MMF and attached to a stick and placed on a cake. Do those pieces dry hard? Do they still taste good? Also when you cover a cake with it does it stay soft? I've heard so many people say it tastes terrible.
Im told the mmf taste very good better than the fondant Ive only done two cakes using fondant and when I cut into the cakes they were still soft and fresh I covered them the day before the party I do two cowboy hats using fondant everyone seem to like it I really didnt care for the taste I mixed my fondant with satin Ice.

MMF won't dry as hard as regular store-bought fondant but it should hold as long as it's not too thick. I have never covered a fondant cake and I have never had one dry out. The MMF tastes better than Wilton and some of the other brands. Satin Ice Fondant is the best but also expensive. I paid $15.95 for 2 lb. MMF is definitely the cheapest way to go and like I said it tastes pretty good.
I dunno who told ya the mmf tastes bad but their totally wrong! It tastes sooooo much better than wilton fondant. Actually, it tastes way better than any fondant I have tried. Its easy to work with AND tastes good. And yes it stays soft when you cover a cake...you put a layer of buttercream on the cake before you cover the cake with fondant. This will keep it soft. Good luck and have fun!!!
MMF tastes like...well..marshmallows. If you're like my daughter, who hates marshmallows, you won't like it. If you're like ME, for whom marshmallows are a favorite snack...you'll love it. I also stir in some almond flavoring, which I also love. So....I like the stuff a lot! ![]()
I made the plaque on my Dream Baby cake out of MMF. It took DAYS to dry. I'm glad I started early!
I don't know why anyone would want to eat something like that, but I guess you could.
MMF stays soft on the cake. I would recommend covering cut edges with a bit of plastic wrap, however, if it is not all consumed within a couple of hours.
