I am making this cake for a bridal shower this afternoon. I don't know the bride (neither does anyone else here), but the MOG is a good friend & her son grew up here, etc. So we are having a shower for them, the bride's colors are champagne, brown & gold. I have NO IDEA of her taste... This is what I came up with & it looks like "Madeline's" hat (the little French girl cartoon?) icon_cry.gif It is 11:00 here, I have to have this up to the church by 12-12:30, what can I do to make it better. The chocolate roses help, but I also have some dark pink silk hydrangeas that I could use instead.... Any ideas would be appreciated. I'm going to go get my shower while I wait for help from my CC friends!!!!!!!!! icon_redface.gif

The only thing I can think of would be to take the bow off the top layer and just leave it as a ribbon band. The cake is very pretty and I would say it tends to remind me of spring instead of Madeline. HTH

I would say maybe think about adding the pink flowers and cutting back on the big bows, the flowers will add some colors and by just having the ribbons around the cake without the bows it might make it look even more elegant and a little cleaner

Anyone else have ideas?

I don't think it looks bad, but I think maybe you should remove the bows, and maybe use a thinner ribbon.

Both suggestions are good.

I'm sorry but what ugly colors. I guess that's the in thing now.

It's nice, but imo there's just too much brown, so I too would just use ribbon bands and lose the bows - I'm sure that would make a big difference - good luck!

I would leave the ribbons, remove the bows and bring the flower to the bottom. I think that making the flower spray a little longer might make it look taller and a little more elegant. I would add the pink flowers and spread out the roses.

Maybe take the top bow off and lay the roses along the bottom of the top layer where the bow was.

Thanks for all the input! I had to leave a little after 12:00, so missed all the feedback. I took it as it was, even though I didn't like it. I had tried some different things with location & position of the flowers & tried the pink but nothing made me happy. Anyway, everyone else liked it, so I guess that's okay.

Thanks again!
