Pure Almond Extract Vs. Almond Flavoring

OK.....This may sound like a stupid question, but is pure almond extract the same at almond flavoring???

Don't laugh I am still trying to figure all this cake stuff out dunce.gif

They are not the same, but they are. icon_lol.gif Pure extracts are more expensive and well, pure. Meaning no other flavorings are added. Imitation or "flavorings" are just that...synthetic flavor. You'll get the same basic results, but pure extracts are always better in taste. Specifically richness in flavor. Think of it as a name brand drug vs generic. Same results, but different prices and slightly different quality. HTH.

I used to think the imitation almond flavoring would save me from having to worry about someone being allergic to nuts, but now I don't think so. Even the imitation has some almond essence in it.
