Hi I am making edible fondant pearls and have tried to use the white pearl dust from wilton and just can't seem to get them to shine like pearls. I use it dry and shake the pearls in it but the shine that looks like real pearls is not there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as it is for a 50th wedding anniversary cake.

Hi!

YOu need to get a luster dust. Any cake shop should have them. They are little plastic containers. It comes in white sparkle, pearl, etc..

Depending on the area you are in, you may need to check the local shops.

Just noticed you are in ontario.
Markham had creative cutters. Contact them, I am pretty sure that they would carry them

Maybe try putting it on w/a paint brush. I just did a bunch that way.

I bought luster dust in "super pearl". I rolled the beads in a small container with dry dust as soon as they were dry enough not to flatten out of shape. It worked great. They look just like pearls.

I do them with a brush or shake in a sm container it must be the wilton dust doesn't have a shine to it
you should be able to see it right away in the container and its very shiny is it luster dust. Look at my pics there is a wedding cake with lots of pearls on it and buttons.

It is wilton and they call it shimmer dust. I have not found any luster dust anywhere here in my city. The only store that carries cake supplies is Michaels so if I want anything else I have to order it. I guess I will have to order some pearl luster dust. Thanks everyone.

Okay now I have a problem, pearl and luster dusts are not available in Canada they haven't been approved by drug and food administators yet. Any ideas how to get the same look..........

Can you order it from a US website and have it shipped to Canada?

I bought some at Klara Johnson's in Cambridge while on a visit to Kitchener/Hamilton. I bought their "snowflake" dust. Take a look at my photos. I've used it on many of the desserts I've made. (They do not ship).

They have some at Golda's Kitchen in Mississauga. Here are the ones I've found. They're on Pages 2 & 3.

They ship.
