I make lots of cakes for my friend's family events...birthdays, graduations, baby showers. She asked me to do a baby shower for a girl. She always brings me part of the decor so I can try and match it. Her niece brought these napkins in today that she picked out for her sister's shower. One is fuschia with white writing and the other is off-white with babies in pjs. She picked out the fuschia 1st and had the baby's name put on it.....but the store did not have enough for every guest so she picked out another to use also. I could have lots of ideas for a baby girl cake using fuschia...but now, this other napkin has thrown a wrench in my ideas (as I am not crazy about it at all). In fact, I disliked it from the moment I saw on it. I mean, there are SO many beautiful designs for baby girls. This is the first one in the family and I was excited to finally be making a girly cake...but that napkin...UGH!

Can someone please pick me up out of this barrell of uncreative sludge and open my mind?

fuschia cake with a little baby in white PJS -- that part covers both.

now what you do with the baby in pjs and how you surround it w/ other decos --

well that can be as frilly, girly as you want.

and off white is close enough to white, that using just plain ol' white for contrast will work.

I second Doug's idea. icon_biggrin.gif

If Doug suggests it, then you know it's a good one! Go with his idea! thumbs_up.gif

Twist on Doug's idea - you could even whatever background you want (white or fuschia) but somehow include a little baby in the pjs as pictured on the napkins - white pjs with fuschia dots.

Then do the rest however frilly you please as everyone else has said. icon_smile.gif Let us know what you decide!

Any suggestions on how to obtain fuschia without having the exact gel color. I only have wilton colors and the only place to buy americolors in my area is 1 1/2 hours away. I noticed they have the exact color. Cake is for this Sunday.

well, if you're close to Lumberton... come on by and you can use my little bottle of it.

barring that ---

well it's a pinkish red.

so...I'd start w/ pink and then try adding some red.

but that's just a GUESS

Thanks Doug! but I'm guessing I'm about two hours away from you. I tried Wilton's Rose Rose with a little Violet. That is the color of the cookies in pictures. I will try it your way this time. By the way...HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!

Use wilton's burgundy a little at a time. I found this picture today when I logged on. May be it helps you.
