Rasberry Preserve Filling - To Fridge Or Not To Fridge -

that is my question. I know this has been asked and I can't find the answer. I am branching out in my baking life and making something other than a yellow or chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. I have made a red velvet cake and am planning on filling it with rasberry preserves (from a jar found in the grocery store next to the peanut butter) and am using rasberry buttercream icing (buttercream dream with rasberry extract). Does this need to be refrigerated because of the preserves? I have NEVER used anything but Wilton buttercream (buttercream dream is MUCH better) to fill or cover a cake. Thanks for the help.

Nope. Refrigeration not necessary. It will be fine as long as it isn't out more than an overnight.

No problem - I don't keep my jars in the fridge.

I use preserves all the time. The one thing I love about them is that they do not have to be kept in the fridge. Your cake will be fine for several days with out being in the fridge. icon_smile.gif
