Silicone Mold-I Bought My First One, Now What?

I just ordered my first silicone mold. It is a First communion that I think I paid a lot of money for, but I think I can use it a bunch of times. But I am not really sure how to use it exactly. I assume I can just push fondant or gumpaste in and peel out right? Any tips? I was thinking maybe I might be able to have it stand up on the cake, but wasnt sure of the best way to go about it. Could I insert some type of lollipop stick or something?
If the item is going to lay flat on the cake you can use straight fondant, but if you want it to stand I would suggest mixing fondant and gumpaste half and half, knead well and then mold. You will get a smooth finished design but also one that will dry a bit firmer and be more stable. You could use a lollipop stick or small piece of doweling for support.
All you need to do is lightly dust the inside of the mold with cornstarch, tap and shake out the excess and press your paste into the mold. To unmold, turn upside down, pull gently on two sides or edges to flex and the item should slide right out. With some types of silicone not even cornstarch is needed but because it is a new mold and I am not sure I would try the cornstarch for the first molding.
