The day started pretty good, I made some BC flowers for this lady's cake, they looked great, got them done and grabbed the cake mix. I hate chocolate cake mix, it tastes awful so I added some stuff to make it better. Well, the cake came out of the oven, a little rounded on top but otherwise real nice. I let it cool on the rack and got the cake board ready. Went to flip over the cake to the board and it fell apart into like 8 pieces... icon_eek.gif , would have been ok, but half of them fell on the floor.....well, last cake mix, gotta do a scratch cake. Got the scratch cake in the oven, it came out beautiful, cooled off, lovely. Got this one on the cake board. The flower nail came out real good from the middle, but I noticed it had about a 3" hump anyway icon_surprised.gif , so I cut off the hump. Corners falling off, cake is now about 1" high........SO I mix another scratch cake, bake it and let it cool. Realized the amount of BC I had made the day before wasn't gonna be enough, so I used my last 2c of PS and made a little more. Well, I was planning on filling this cake with my chocolate ganache, so I get the whipping cream out and pour it in the bowl....OMG IT WAS CHUNKY! Have to fill the cake with BC, which I still don't have enough of. I call my sister in a panic but she hasn't bought any more PS since I stole her last bag.....well, got the cake together at last (after baking 3 cakes today), had almost exactly enough BC to make it look good (not perfect tho icon_sad.gif ). Can't find my camera, so here's the pic from my cell phone.... icon_redface.gif
So here it is, meet the CAKE FROM HELL!

Well, it turned out real nice! Doesn't look like a disaster, so you recovered well.

I have one of those in the making. 4 tier cake, top 6 in orange, next 9in orange, next 12 in hex marble, bottom tier 14in square white chocolate.

Well, one of the 9in layers broke when I was getting it out of the pan. Into about 16 pieces... icon_mad.gificon_mad.gif . Then the pillars and plates came in (yay!) but psych....the pillars don't fit the plates. So I had to send DH out to buy new pillars. Then the supports for the fondant bridge I'm making broke. And my plan for the palm trees didn't work out, to make the cake pillars look like palms, so I have to wing something for that. I'm just gonna close my eyes and pray this thing turns out looking like the $350 I charged her for this behemoth. It's not starting off too well. The best laid plans, and all that.....
