I have a wedding in July and the cake sizes are 14, 10, and 6 on top of the large Roman set with the fountain underneath; on each side is a 10" cake with the stairway.

Her colors are gold and white. She wants a single gold rose on each 10" side cake.

I have to spray the roses in a gold color and since the roses can not touch the cake, I throught about having a mirror glass cut about 5" round and placed on top of each side cake and trimmed with gold reverse shells.

Do you think that this will look okay since the mirror will reflect the roses?

Your opinion and suggestions are desperately needed.

You can get mirrors like this at Michaels or craft stores. Why can't the roses touch the cake? Are you going to spray them with Luster dust?

I will be using the regular gold paint spray.

How do you spray luster dust?

Thanks Zmama.

I've heard you can do it with an airbrush but haven't tried it yet. How are you going to spray the border without getting it everywhere?

Have you considered using:
-Silk metallic roses?
-Royal Icing Roses brushed with gold petal/luster dust?
-White roses with the gold foil leaves or ribbons?

I would be afraid someone might try to eat your painted roses...

Jenn,

The borders will be bc icing.

She is using artifical roses. The ones that will go under the 6" will be sprayed also and will sit on the plate tiered, so I wanted to use the same roses.

I love your suggestions and will look into the metallic roses.

Thanks so much...keep the ideas coming icon_lol.gif

OH! I thought you were spray painting icing flowers!!! icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif I don't know if you will be able to make gold icing for the reverse shells that will match the paint. I think I would just do them white??

That is so funny icon_lol.gificon_lol.gif spray painting icing flowers.

Americolor sells gold.

Thank goodness I have some time to practice and experiment icon_wink.gif
