Someone told the school here that I dabbled in cake decorating. The school doesnt want to go to a bakery, heck the person even gave the lady my phone number. Anyway, it's for a retirement. The lady LOVES flamingos and jimmy buffett.... I looked at margaritaville cakes etc, I am really panicking..... I have looked and looked for a cake that I know I can do that looks classy etc.... I have been all over the internet seen a few saved them, but they are either way out of my ability or something like that. I have looked on here, ladycakes, wilton and every site I have on my favorites.... I would like to see pictures.... can anyone help me????

how about just do a FBCT of a pink flamingo on a large sheet cake?

or could trace around the image of a pink flamingo about 2" out for a shaped cake.

found the photo below and loved the color combo.

the green would be the sheet cake and of course a FBCT or similar (chocolate image!!!!) of the flamingo

found it by googling "flamingo" and it's actually a picture of a piece of jewlery.

I've had this site bookmarked for a while now, I love the idea of doing the cookies on the cake, and it's something different also.

You could incorporate the flamingo along with whatever else you want to do - it would be fun to do some of the tropical print shirts, parrots, whatever says "Jimmy Buffett" to you.

I have a flamingo cookie cutter, and have seen other ones like palm trees, etc.

I don't know if you'd have these available to you, but I found some mini pink flamingos with wire legs at Party City. You could use a sheet cake to create a pool scene and have the mingos swimming. One could be dunking underwater, so only his tailfeathers are showing while the other is doing the backstroke. Flamingos are so very cool. I've been collecting them for years!

what about enlarging that photo that was provided and making a carved flamingo cake???? That would be pretty cool....maybe cover in MMF and then use gels to paint on the details or some food markers or something

I don't have any real suggestions except that, as a fellow "parrothead" (translation:Jimmy Buffet fan) - "classy" is not a consideration. You haven't lived until you've been to a Jimmy Buffet concert. The kitschier the better...parrots, sharks, loud tropical flowers, coconuts, palm trees and, yes, pink flamingos. I wear a huge white man's shirt with a two-foot rhinestone and sequin parrot on the back...and a bracelet, earrings and necklace made out of bright, clunky wooden tropical fish. And I'm lost in the crowd.

Let yourself go and have FUN with this cake. She'll love it!

ok, just had to check out the parrotheads for myself, so went to www.margaritaville.com and took a look...

well now, Crimsicle is right, classy is NOT a consideration

item of evidence this guy. (the whole site is a hoot! such fun!)

oh the possibilites not having to be classy opens up ... icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm doing a pink flamingo cake for my daughter's 4th birthday. I just got done doing the flamingos in chocolate. I've never used the technique before and it was pretty easy.
