i am in the process of doing several 3d figures from homemade fondant (michelle's delicious fondant), and i have a question that i can't seem to find the answer for in my books

all of them show pictures on how to make the figures, but i can't figure out if they mold the individual pieces, let them dry, then attach them to make the bodies, or if they mold the entire body at the same time. this is what i did today, but the parts are just so soft when working with them that it starts to get really hard to get concise details that stay in place.

thanks! starla

i mold the pieces one at a time and attach them as I go along. I have found that if you let them dry it is too hard to get them to attach, although this could just be me.

Hi,
I just recently made my 1st figures and you should definately put them together as you go. Don't think they would stick well after drying.

well, that's what i thought but i just really had a problem with the hands, for one. both of my characters are sitting back "on their hands", if you know what i mean, so their arms have to go straight down, and then a 90 degree turn at their wrists. the fondant wasn't too soft, cause in fact i had trouble getting it to roll out, but i guess where the arms are so small, it heats up quickly from my hands, and the figures end up with monstrously huge hands and their "wrist" being half way up to their elbow.
