I have been asked to do an armadillo cake as a groom's cake. This will be my first groom's cake. So any help I can receive will be greatly appreciated. How do I make an armadillo without sculpting it? What colors should I use?

I did an armadillo cake back in December. It was also for a groom's cake.

My best advice would be to use the football pan as the body. I used a 4 inch round cut in half for the head. I cut it some to form the pointy nose.

I hand drew the black stripes on the back...and filled everything in with tip 5 round dots. I used grey for the body.

I made the feet and tail out of icing. To dress it up I put fruit all around the cake board.

The photo is in my pictures. icon_smile.gif

Search the internet for some good photos of armadillos http://images.google.com/images?q=armadillo&hl=en&btnG=Search+Images
You might could do it with the football pan and a cupcake head with fondant. The colors are grey and brown.

Here are some pics from the CC gallery:

Maybe you could PM them for tips.

Good Luck
