I am going to be making a baby's 1st birthday cake - 9", 2 layer, strawberry filling with BC icing, simple bead border and a few colorful daisies on the cake, writing of course, and a "smash cake" to go with it. I am thinking of charging $30 - this is only my second paid order, and I am fairly new at this. I was going to quote $25 and $5 for the smash cake, but a total price for both would be easier to quote. Ok gang, your opinion on the price?

I think that's a steal........I think most people would charge more............I'm gonna order some cakes from YOU!!! LOL Especially here in Jersey...i think you could get more for it....I would say around 50 dollars for both....depending on how big the smash cake is?

Hi there

I think that she is right. I would probably charge minimum $40.00 for the cake and $5.00 for a 6"rnd smash. I am sure that you could probably get $50.00 though.
Good luck

I would at least charge $40 a small cake from the grocery store is $25-30. Don't underprice yourself.

The smash cake will only be a small 4" cake. See, now I thought that $30 was sounding like alot being it was a simple BC cake, guess I was wrong! LOL!! Am trying to make up a basic pricing list so I don't have to guess all the time, and initially was thinking $15 for 6", $25 for 8", and up $5 for every inch up in cake - that is basic BC and no fancy fillings (anyone have a basic list like that?).

Being she would like sliced strawberries, I can justify (in my mind) charging the $40. If I have extra cookie dough left from this week's cookie order, maybe I will throw in a few "1" cookies for free.
