I received a call yesterday asking for a cake for tomorrow to congratulate a physican on a recent award. They are having an open house tomorrow and just want an 11 X 15" cake with something simple on it. I don't even really know where to start! Any ideas?

Maybe you could do a lab coat with his name on the pocket or perhaps a bct of a stethascope on top.

Did you look in the galleries section, you could do a search under doctor, nurse, medical...
I have seen some great cakes with doctor bags and things...

Thanks for the suggestions. This is a little hard b/c he's an OBGYN so doesn't use the "typical" doctor things, etc. They want it very plain and simple, but I'm not too good with the ideas for men.

The first thing that comes to mind is perhaps a doctor holding a baby. Perhaps do it in some kind of transfer. The other idea is a simple cake with some daisies or other kind of open flower and you put the baby faces for the center. Have you ever seen those molds. Or you could go on line and just find a quote that is suitable for a doctor. Put it in the middle of your cake with a pretty border.

How about just a sheet cake, and then do a FBCT with the doctor symbol, the snake wrapped around something, and the write congratulations Dr. So and So.

this was posted on a thread for someone else looking for a cake for a man...this could be beautiful for a doctor as well.....it's fairly simple (though probably time consuming) but it does look beautiful

I got it. How about a syringe and needle. You could bake 2 9X13 and cut them in half. You would do 2 layers and then line up both 2 layer cakes to make the long body of the syringe. You could use plain white icing and blue to mark the little lines on the syringe. The medicine pusher could be MMF or gum paste and the needle could be MMF or gum paste painted with silver luster dust.
