I have a price matrix and I am okay with using that! I am just unsure how much to charge per hour for my time. Could anyone give me suggestions or tell me what you charge?

Thanks a bunch!

My problem with charging an hourly rate is that the worse you are, the more you charge! HA HA icon_lol.gif

I don't keep up with my time...just try to spend as little as possible on supplies and charge more than the grocery stores...

I know I'm probably selling myself short, but I charge minimum wage for my area. I take a guess at how much time it will take me to do the cake then add in cost for supplies. That's how I get my price per cake.

Barefoot Contessa, that makes me really sad to read that you think your skill and work (and you do such lovely work!), is worth no more than minimum wage, do you really believe your time and talent is on the same price level as a teenager who works in McDonalds? It makes me want to cry icon_cry.gificon_cry.gificon_cry.gif . I don't exactly charge by the hour, but when I deduct the cost of supplies from the price of a cake, and then divide what's left it by the hours I worked on the cake, it comes to about E8 - E10 (approx $10 - $12.50) per hour on average. Now, I get more than that at my housekeeping job (E13 ($16) per hour), but it certainly isn't minimum wage level!!!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Unfortunately, I do cakes from home for friends and family as a hobby so I can't really charge and arm and a leg for the work. I enjoy it, have fun at it. and am only using the money as spending cash (ie: for splurging!!). I don't have many hobbies and have fun most of the time thinking of how do the new request! I don't think my work is the same level as someone at mcdonalds but it still takes me a good bit of time to do a cake which means more hours than it takes most!
