Hello everyone, I have been reading up on the Wilton tent sale, and I am very interested in going to it. I live in Michigan and it would be a long drive, one that would most likely require a stay in a hotel in that area as well.. I guess what I am asking is it really worth it? How big is the actual sale? All I am interested in is the cake supplies...not much of anything else would interest me...my husband is willing to drive me there and stay the weekend as long as its actually worth all of the money we would be putting out on the hotel, gas, food .... etc .. any helpful informtation would be GREATLY appreciated ..

Cakerator I feel your pain I really wanted to go but since it would be a short 14.5 hour drive for us we figured the gas alone would kill the deals. We are paying over $3 per gallon now icon_cry.gif

I went to the Wilton Tent sale years ago and picked up a lot of things at very good discounts, however; I only drove 3 hours and gas was much cheaper then. It's a huge tent packed with everything imaginable but I don't know if you would save enough to cover your expenses. Hope this helps.

I know! I am just trying to wait till Hobby Lobby has there 1/2 price sale I have been reading about. Being from TX my hubby drives a 4 door pick up and they are thirsty little things! He groans every time I even mention taking my car -- I drive a Mustang. He says its too small for him - and he is not a large man at all he just like his truck. Anyway one of these days maybe we will get to go.

Hey Everyone I went to the Tent sale last year and I think I spent $350 on supplies, everything is marked down to a real reasonable price. I just threw away my long receipts, but I do know that things were basically half off, and the closer to the end date of the sale things are marked down even more. I was able to get a lot of cake boards, baby shower decorations like rattles, blocks, bottles. I also was able to get some pans, fondant in a bottle in a variety of colors, which I use for writing, Wilton's buttercream in the tube in various colors. Honestly I think if you could get things at Michael's for 40% off or wait until Hobby Lobby has it's 50% off you'll be better off. That's just my opinion!

OK- I just answered my own question- it's in the burbs of Chicago, just minutes from where my sister lives! About a 2-1/2 hour trip from my house (S. Wi)- I am going!

I've been going to the tent sale for the past couple of years. I've spent about $300-400 each year. It's just about all of Wilton's product line at 50% off or sometimes a bit more. Towards the end of the sale, they sometimes mark things down another 33%, so you're only paying about 20% of the retail cost but, by that time, there's not much left.

I think if you have to drive a few hours to get to it then it wouldn't be worth it since gas prices are getting to be ridiculous! By summer, Chicago's supposed to be close to $4/gallon. I would recommend just waiting for the Hobby Lobby 50% off sale. JMO
