DH and I are charter and committee members of a camping club (North TX Camping Asso) and I would like to do a cake for our 6th Anniversary Campout. Has anyone ever done a campfire on a cake before. I've never worked with fondant before, but I would be willing to try. I'm thinking some real looking logs and maybe yellow buttercream with red striping in a parchment to create flames. I would appreciate any ideas from you PROS!! icon_biggrin.gif

If you go up top to galleries and do a search for camping, you will get a lot of visual ideas.

I've done a campfire cake before for boy scouts. I melted butterscotch and cinnamon candy for the flames. I got the cheap butterscotch and cinnamon disk candy. Place the candies on a lined cookie sheet and melt (careful not to scortch). Let cool and break into shards for flames. It came out wavy colors like a real flame.
