Getting Married & Looking For Unique Guestbook

Well, we've been engaged for about a year and a half; here it is about six months from the big day, and we're no closer to being done with the planning than we were 18 months ago! LOL ![]()
Anyway, I've been looking for a unique guestbook, and I found this: http://www.idoengravables.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=I&Product_Code=ESM&Category_Code=WeddingGuestbooks
I was wondering if anyone here at CC has ever seen one of these in person (or, better yet, purchased one for themselves). I think it's a great idea, but it's kind of expensive, and I'd hate to waste that money if it doesn't work very well. Anybody have any feedback to offer? ![]()
I've never heard of this....but for our wedding guest book we did a polaroid scrapbook and it was soooo much fun!!!
Before the wedding I put together a photo album with a bunch of diff. pages that would hold polarids and at the reception I had a table set up w/the album and about 6-7 polaroid cameras. I had two people standing at the table, one to take pictures and one to help put the pics in the album. So when people came in.....they got their picture taken and signed the picture and then put it in the album!! We got some GREAT pictures of every single guest. And they also had room on the album page to write a nice not or a wedding wish!!
Of course we had to have ALOT of polaroids, but after everyone had arrived....any left over polaroids were taken of everyone during the reception. This is when we got the 'goofy' shots of everyone acting silly!! It is great too look back on it!! I treasure this photo album more than the one that actually holds my professional pictures!!
If your able, I would recommend this to anyone!! Everyone at the wedding enjoyed it!!
pinkbunny~ That's an awesome idea! It sounds like so much fun. I know my grandparents have one Polaroid camera I could use; I wonder if we could get by with just one. We wouldn't have as many to use during the reception, but I have an aunt that practically has a digital camera attached to one hand and a camcorder attached to the other. LOL
I know she'll take lots of pics for us.
Kos~ Thank you! It's gone a lot easier than I expected (of course, I have very selfish reasons for making it work this time--I don't want to look like the StayPuft Marshmallow Man in my wedding pictures!
) I'm embarassed to admit how out of control my weight had gotten, but what matters now is that it's going in the right direction. (and seeing that ticker in my sig file keeps me motivated--I can't wait until my little athlete person gets to the end!
)
my daughter just got married last month. did a lot of shopping for ideas; saw a platter that the guest sign with special markers. then afterwards you bake it in your oven and it is set of life. makes a great conversation piece when you bring it out in front of guest.
We did something simliar to pinkbunny. I put my sister in laws in charge of it. They took regular photos of all the guests and had small pieces of paper for every guest to write a short note on. We have some really great photos and notes from everyone who attended our wedding. My SILs are very crafty so they also decorated it with fall cutouts since our wedding was in October. They gave us the album fully finished and decorated. It turned out great.
My MIL did something so special for us. She emailed/wrote to each couple/guest and asked them for a photo of themselves and their favourite recipe. She then glued each page with the written recipe and the photo of the couple/guest into a beautiful album and they signed their page with a little message when they came into the reception.
I absolutely ADORE it. So personal and such a keepsake!
Our wedding was only 40 people or so, but 23 of them are chefs!
Now I have their secret recipes. Moohahahahaha!!!
we did something similar to the photo albulm. The guest book had room for messages, instead of just a place to sign names, and a place to mount a photo. Each guest had their own page and we made sure to get photos of everyone who attended. Later, I matched the photos to the pages. It's a wonderful keepsake that I look back on often.
One of my friends Grandmothers made a double wedding ring quilt for her and the guest signed it with fabric markers. She says if she is having a bad day she wraps up in it on the couch and it is like getting a hug from everyone who loves her!
For my best friend's wedding, we sent out quilt squares to all their family and friends. The could write a message, or a memory and sign the square. Also, we requested that the little children trace their hands. It turned out really cute. We had a professional put the quilt together, but my best friend and his wife say that a lot of great memories are recollected when they see the quilt.
Wow! Look at all the great ideas!!
I've not had time to be on here for the past week or so (talk about withdrawal LOL), so I apologize for not checking back sooner. Thank you all for the awesome ideas; I knew I could count on you gals! Everyone here is so creative.
Thanks again! ![]()
