I need to make silver fondant stars and purple bc icing. Any tips for the purple icing? Should I make the fondant white and paint the stars(and stripes) silver, or mix in the luster dust to make the whole thing silver?

jbmommy,
I would use one of the purple icing colors from Wilton- they all work really well with buttercream. As far as the fondant, I am not 100% sure, but I believe the silver lustre dust will work. Maybe someone who is more experiecned with fondant can answer this one. But, here's a "bump".

you can make the fondant white........might do well if you made it grey like a light grey and then applied silver luster dust one it dried out a bit...mix the luster dust with some extract.....i like lemon extract (it has a high alcohol content and evaporates quickly)...just use a tiny bit of extract in a small container......the lids to 2 liter soda bottles work really well, then add some luster dust to it making it kind of a paint consistency...like nail polish or something. then just paint it on the stars with a paint brush and let it dry.....keep them out of the sunlight too.....and your purple bc......has a way of turning nasty blue and grey colors if it's in the light. Hope that helps some.
