Ok so I'm carving a 7" oval into a car it's going on top of a 11 x 15" double layer sheet cake, I will be putting the cake on top at the party but it's going on top of a fondant road. Do I dowel before the fondant or after?
Should the cake have its own board or would the fondant ssupport it?

when: after -- easier to see where they are.

needed: how long will car sit there? if only a short while -- probably not.

long while -- couldn't hurt.

bent on perfection -- go ahead.

own board -- w/ dowels -> required (cut to shape)

Thanks a bunch Doug I think I would go ahead and dowel, and let it have its own board

OK, Doug, what would we do without you? Great advice on the doweling "problem".
