I am giving my friend a bridal tea shower this Sunday afternoon. I was surprised to find that she wants to play silly shower games . . . and I don't know any!!
Help, please suggest games!
My friend wanted silly games at her shower, too.
Here are a few that we played:
We divided into teams of 2 and each team was given 2 rolls of TP (I bought the cheap kind for this) and then given 3 minutes to create a "wedding gown and veil" on 1 of the team members using the TP. We were all laughing so hard! At the end of the 3 minutes we voted on whose "gown" was the best, and that team won a prize.
The other silly thing we did, is when she opened her gifts, in addition to writing down who the gifts were from and what they were, I wrote down the first words out of her mouth in response to each gift. After all the gifts were opened, I read out her list of responses as "What (bride's name) will say on her wedding night" it was a hoot! because the responses end up reading something like this:
Thank You!
Wow! It's so big!
Oh! I love the color blue!
I love it! I love it!
Gosh! You're so generous!
and so on and so forth!
We were laughing so hard, some of us were tearing up!
A third idea (we didn't play this one at my friend's shower, but I've heard of others doing this) is to write up a short paragraph about how your friend and her fiance met or how he proposed. Then re-write it, leaving blanks for some of the words, to create a "custom" Mad Libs. Make sure to write under the blanks what kind of word should go in each blank (i.e. a place, an adjective, a verb, etc). Have each guest supply a word to go in the blank, but don't let them know what the end story is about. Once all the blanks are filled in, read the "new" version of the story. If you've ever played Mad Libs, you'll know that you'll be laughing so hard, you'll have a hard time reading the story out!
Hope these help!
My girlfriends and I have given several showers. Prterrell gave great ideas. We also have done a list of the brides favorites, things about her , fill in the blanks....what high school she went to , favorite color, how the bride and groom met, you can make up any. It's fun because most think they know the bride real well, and are shocked that they don't know all the answers.
We also love the purse game. We make a list before the shower, and the woman with the most items on the list in her purse wins. We had a tie at the last shower, so the woman with the most unusual/odd item in her purse won.
Have fun. ![]()
My best friend is getting married in two months, so I've been trying to figure out the same thing. One game I saw was to come up with some recipes (her favorites if you know them) and write them down, but leave out one ingredient. Then whoever guesses the missing ingredient wins. It's perfect for my friend because she and I cook together all of the time.
I've also done the purse game "Purse Power" each item on the list has a point value, we put "condom" 50 pts, and the older ladies really got a kick out of that.
We also played a game called the spice of life, buy about 10 different spices at the $1 store, cover the labels and write a number on each, give everyone a sheet of paper. pass the spices around and let everyone sniff, taste, etc. The person who guesses the most spices is the winner.
If you know a lot about the bride you can do "Bride's name trivia" where you write up trivia questions from childhood, etc. The person with the most correct answers wins.
Another one is called "Famous Women", write the names of famous women, living or dead from all walks of life, on slips of paper. Pin a name on each person's back but don't let them see the name and you can't tell anyone who their person is. The object is to guess the name of the person on your back by asking only yes or no questions, and you can't ask the same person more than one question in a row. For example, you can ask, "Am I old?" "Am I alive" "Am I a singer" etc. This is good if you have a lot of people who don't know each other because everyone must circulate around the room.
Good luck and have fun!
At one shower i went to the girls took the bride and grooms first names and the grooms last name and put them at the top of a page. We had to make as many words out of the letters, as we could. Everyone had the whole shower to fill out their lists and the person who had the most at the end won.
I just threw my sister's bridal shower....we played Bingo which was great. Instead of numbers, the gamecard has gift items. As she opens one, you mark it down and the first one to get Bingo gets a small prize. I had 80 women there so I let it continue for a while until the prizes ran out but it really made the ladies pay attention! They sell pre-made cards online, but I custom-printed the cards myself.
Another very fun game we played was with phony giant diamond rings. Every lady got one and if they said the word "wedding" or the Groom's name , they had to give the ring to the lady who caught them saying it. The one with the most rings in the end won the centerpiece.
VWW104--I'm in love with the names on the back idea!!!! I think I am going to do that one . . . that has got to be a lot of fun.
We are going to do the purse game for sure . . . as well as the clothespin game using the word "Wedding". I'm trying to decide on one more . . .
Thanks everyone for such great ideas!
This is just my opinion..nobody get mad lol.
Me and my mom both roll our eyes and grind our teeth when we attend a shower and the host wants to play a game. Me and my mom have done three baby showers and one wedding shower together in the last 5 years and everytime we annonced at the shower that no games would be played everyone smiled, some even clapped. I know its personal preference but if I have to estimate a pregnant womans belly size with toilet paper one more time.........
