Does anyone know a good recipes for cookies to be used in a bouquet? I like the no fail recipe but I was just wondering if there's something else out there.
I always used the no fail but just switched to Penny's, it's great for bouquets, it's a nice shape keeping and strong cookie but not rock hard.
Are you looking for a different quality in a cookie? That might help people give you some different recipes.
I ahven't tried Penny's cookie recipe yet,but it's high on my to-do list. I use the no-fial recipe and LOVE it!! But before I started using the no-fail recipe I used Martha Stewart's recipe. It's on her website. It worked just fine, I just prefer the no-fails.

Maybe a bit more flavorful.
Penny's Recipe is very flavorful. It has just enough almond extract to not be over powering and lend a nice flavor to the cookie. A lot of sugar cookies taste like flour.. this recipe doesn't. I am going to try the NFSC recipe today.. I'll let you know what I think in comparison.
So have you tried Penny's and didn't think that it was flavorful enough? Sorry, I couldn't figure out if you have or haven't. I personally don't find no fails to have a lot of flavor so Penny's was a very pleasant surprise! Martha Stewarts were also nice, there is a lemon one too that I liked but thus far, Penny's had the most flavor, best yield and held its shape for me.
If you haven't tried them yet, I'd say to go for it and see what you think.
Okay.. I have made both the NFSC and Penny's recipe and Penny's wins with me hands down in flavor and texture. I even added almond extract to the NFSC recipe and I still liked Penny's better. The only thing that was better about the NFSC recipe was that it didn't spread as much, but I think I'll try leaving out the baking powder in Penny's recipe like someone (sorry i can't remember who) suggested if I needed nice crisp lines in my cookies.
I haven't tried Penny's recipe yet, but intend to. However, I have added 1 tsp of cinnamon to, and instead of 2 tsp of vanilla, 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp of lemon in the NFS. I LOVE the NFS this way! In fact, I'm doing some thank you cookies as i type using the altered NFS recipe. I hope if you try it this way you like it, I sure do. ![]()
P.S. DH said they are more flavorfull with the cinn/lemon & he liked them better too!
I've tried both recipes (Penny's most recently) and I do like both but I like Penny's more. BUT NFSC is good if you add more flavor to it. I've made it with a bit of orange extract and another batch with a bit of lemon extract (along with the vanilla). I've read some posts on here that people have also added almond extract to the recipe. I guess what I'm trying to say is I think they are both good and they both work really well in cookie bouquets. The whole NFSC recipe does make more dough if you're looking for quantity.
HTH
I added 2 tbsp of vanilla and 1 tsp of almond extract (the same flavoring measurements as Penny's recipe as I halved the recipe) to the NFSC and while it didn't taste bad.. I liked the texture of Penny's recipe better. The cookies I made today (NFSC) are yummy.. just less flakey?? For lack of a better word. The only difference in ingredients is the whipping cream and it makes a big difference.. for me anyway. I can see how they would make nice cookie bouquets.. I suprised the kids with their own "cookie lollipop" today and they thought it was super cool.
I'll have to try the cinnamon/lemon flavoring next time I make cookies.. sounds real good!
