The average seems to be tip 233, I had the same query a couple of weeks ago. The alternative also is to push fondant thru a sugar gun or garlic press.
if your making grass out of fondant, you can use a "clean" play-dough press. It works really well..
I'm going to be using BC but just realized that I don't have the right tip! ARGH! Is there another tip I could use?
The only other thing I know of would be tip #2 but that means you'll pipe each individual blade of grass seperately. I suggest going out tomorrow and purchasing tip#233. Sorry.
I just thought of something else. You could use a small leaf tip and have bigger blades of grass. Tip #73 possibly. I would hold the tip at a 45 degree angle from the surface. Or you could do a manicured lawn where they have the rows of grass. I'd use two slightly different shades of green and use the serrated edge of the basketweave tip. I hope these makes sense to you.
Someone just posted this cake with grass:

It looks like they just used a star tip and I think it looks pretty good!
I agree #233 is the way to go and soooo easy. I did some cupcakes for Easter and it was great to use. They are in my pictures, but you really can't see how the grass turned out.
