The Canon iP3000 ($100 or less) is the best choice right now. You can purchase one new on eBay or at some online electronics/office supply shops. The Canon iP1500 ($50 or less) would be my second choice. I would avoid Epson printers and any printer with more than 4 cartridges. You'll also want to avoid edible imaging kit deals which are usually priced 50%-100% or more over retail. If you need help finding the Canon printers, just PM me. I don't want to post a link to the ones for sale. The companies that sell the edible imaging kits try to find them and buy up all the stock to sell at a higher price.

The ip1500 is getting scarce. I love mine so much, I bought a backup! I got it on Amazon a couple of weeks ago for $109. I probably could have gotten one cheaper on eBay, but I didn't want the uncertainty of maybe not winning the auction, so went for the bird in the hand. I got my first one on Amazon, too.

You can still find them at some online electronics and office supply shops but you're right, not as many as before. If you try a Froogle search, you can find them new, in stock for $50.

Lisa..I've seen the cleaning cartridges for the two cartridge canon printers..but they never list the ip 1500 as one of the machines that takes the cleaning cartridges.

I'm wondering how peeps clean their ip 1500 machines.

Do you mean at Kopykake? Most of the edible ink/cleaning cartridge compatible printers aren't listed. The iP1500 takes the same style edible ink and cleaning cartridges as the other 2 cartridge Canon printers on the KK list.

Ah...that does make sense.

BTW..when I bought my first ip1500...I did a Froogle search and found none...I did get it on Ebay...screwed it up and ended up getting rid of it.

Froogle seems to have tons of cartridges listed but no printers...unless I am doing something wrong.

You have to narrow the search to look for printers only. After you type in Canon iP1500, the search results come up and then you can narrow the results with the links up top.

Lisa-
I just bought an Epson printer/scanner and saw you said to avoid them! WHY??? The one I bought takes 4 cartridges.

There are a few reasons...a permanent print head, smart cartridges, clogging issues and some complain that they use too much black ink.

I have had the IP 3000 for over a year now. I buy all of my cartridges from KK. I have not had a problem one with it and would highly recommend it and KK for supplies.

Hi Stacy. Congrats on getting your printer! What I said to avoid buying was the edible imaging kits (printer, inks, sheets all as a kit) because they're priced anywhere from 50% to over 100% above the actual retail cost. It's better to buy your printer separately and then the supplies like you did thumbs_up.gif
