I am making my daughter's first birthday cake right now and I can't figure out a good border. Please help me with some Ideas. I have the wilton fondant ribbon cutter but I just can't make anything look right. It's a stacked cake covered with with fondant and pink polkadots. Any ideas or pictures would be great!

What about a bead boarder? Just roll fondant into balls and place along the edges. Its simple and very pretty.

YOu could roll out two long "snakes" of fondant, twist them together for a rope border.

You could use a clay gun to shape a border. I used mine on this cake.

A braided border would be neat, too.

..how about a ruffle border made from fondant? To do that, you just cut a long strip about an inch or so wide and ruffle the one edge with a ball tool!

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I had a tough time with this cake. I just couldn't make anything look right! I had wanted to do a ruffle border but I guess I didn't cut the strip long enough to make it work. So I ended up doing a simple bow around the bottom. I wish I had a picture to upload but I forgot to take a picture with my digital camera. So I will have to wait for my mom to get her pictures developed. Thanks again!

mommyedzards- What is a clay gun? Where can you get one?

It is a tool used for clay, but you can buy one and use them just for fondant. You can get them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby for about $10 or under. You just place the fondant in one end and push it pout kind of like a cookie press ( comes with different disks to change shape).
