This is a beautiful cake by hockeymom that I saw in the gallery. I want to do a pink buttercream oval on a white buttercream cake (similar to her yellow one, only smaller).
I tried to pm her, but she probably hasn't been online and hasn't answered me. Just wondering if anyone knows how I can do this? Think I would have to do a BCT of the oval or is there an easier way?
Thanks.
I'm thinking bct but you could probably make it from colorflow, too.
I recently did a cake where the center was an oval and a different color then the rest of the top of the cake. I cut a pattern in the shape of the oval. I covered the pattern in clear contact paper. I placed this pattern in the center of the cake and pressed down slightly. I then frosted the top of the cake in the normal fashion but tried to make it as thin as as could on top of the oval pattern. Once I completed the frosting on the top, I removed the pattern. I then placed frosting of a different color into the area where the pattern had been. I used the small spatula for this. Once this was complete, I let it sit for about 20 minutes and then smoothed the top with a viva towel. It was just that simple. Where the two colors meet, I piped a border type design. I had wanted to do this for some time but I just wasn't sure how it would turn out. I was pleasantly surprised at well it all blended in. Hope this helps...
