I was wondering how to do a cupcake cake. I've been getting requests to do them and I don't understand how they all stay put while icing them, won't they slide around?

You glue each cupcake (in it's liner) to the cake board with a dot of icing. I just use a border tip and pipe a small dot on the bottom of each liner before placing it on the board.

It also helps to use the icer tip for covering the cupcakes rather than spreading dollops with a spatula. That way you aren't pushing on the cupcakes to move the icing around.
