I need to make a tombstone for an over the hill cake. Well, it's giving me more trouble than I anticipated it would. I have made it from the fondant a few times and each time the top falls over. I have tried suporting it as well, and it just won't stay up. I am fairly new to this and mainly work with fondant and gumpaste. Would this work a lot easier if I just made it from RI? I don't want to make a batch of RI if it won't work. I'd like the base to be about an inch thick and the headstone to be at least half an inch thick. Could I just make a really think color flow and let it set longer? And if so, could I still paint the words on the stone with the food colors? Sorry it's such a basic question, I just don't want to waste any more of my time if there is a better easier way to do it...lol
I think a color flow that thick would take forever to dry! I guess I dont understand why your fondant/gumpaste one isnt working. I would make it and stick lolipop stick into it (then you can stick that into the cake) I guess I dont understand what you mean by the top falls over. Is it just a regular tombstone shape?
Is it just a toombsone, or a toombstone on a cake?
Could you make some rice krispie treats and then cover that with fondant? That way it should be the right size and shouldn't fall over. Just a thought.
