What happens on your birthday?? Does someone make you a cake or do you have to bake your own cake? Today is my birthday, and I just can't bring myself to bake my own cake. I know that sounds silly...but I just don't think I can do it. What do you all do?

A very Happy Birthday to you. I wish I was wherever you are so that I could have made you a cake.
I prefer making my own cake.

My mom still will bake me a cake. It isn't as pretty as what I would do because she isn't trained but I don't care. It's my birthday and I didn't have to do work on my birthday icon_smile.gif

I bake my own cake and frost it. Then I let my kids decorate it with all my stuff. I'll never forget my "over the hill" cake when I was 40. My dyslexic daughter decorated it. She drew a hill and put an arrow from right to left and wrote "over the hill". I wish I had taken a picture of it!

Happy Birthday to you!

My husband always bakes me a cake. It's straight out of the box and frosted with canned frosting, but it's always yummy and it means a lot that he makes the effort. (he is NOT a baker)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY party.gif

If I get a cake its because I made it, a lot of times I'm too busy to worry about a cake for myself though. This year I will probably make one for the practice icon_smile.gif I say make one, that way you get exactly what you want icon_smile.gif

No one has acknowledged my birthday for the past 4 or 5 years...except my family who all call and send gifts but they're too far away to bake me a cake. It's just another day to me.

Well Happy Birthday to you Granni and Happy early Birthday to you Melissa!!

I get acknowledged on my birthday but that is about it. The one person who always made a big deal about my Birthday died in October (my Daddy, yes I called him that till the day he died).
My husband makes an effort sometimes when he has time but he works sometimes 14 hour days and doesn't have the time to even pick up a card...last year my kids even forgot 80 but oh well to old for birthdays icon_sad.gif

Happy Birthday!

I've been making my own birthday cakes almost every year since I was 8. I get just as excited deciding what to do for my cake as for the other cakes I do for friends and family! After I went to college, my mom started making my cakes. Now that I live 8 hours away, that means I have my cake and her cake, just at different times. This year she didn't have time to make me one and she felt so bad about it! I kept trying to tell her that did have a birthday cake (she kept saying that she felt bad because I didn't have a cake this year) and that she doesn't have to make me one. I don't really need to eat 2 cakes anyway.

My husband's birthday was yesterday. We had had so many cakes lately that I just went to Baskin Robins.

party.gif Happy Birthday thumbs_up.gif

Last year I wanted to make my own so I could try the topsy turvy cake.

This year I said I wasn't going to, so I guess that means I don't get one.
But that was ok b/c I got a REALLY good Chocolate brownie with chocolate chips, scoops of peanut butter on the side with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream on top and drizzled with chocolate sauce from the restaurant we went to (it was sooo good warmed up)

We'll see what happens next year.
