UCO Quick Facts
Nickname: Bronchos
Bronchos was the nickname selected for Central Oklahoma in 1922 by Mrs. C.W. Wantland, wife of long-time UCO football coach C.W. Wantland. The name was chosen from a number of suggestions for the name of UCOs football team and became the nickname for all athletic teams at the school.
School Colors: Bronze and Blue
Bronze and blue were chosen as Central Oklahomas school colors early in the fall of 1895 by school president Edmund Dandridge Murdaugh. The first public display of the bronze and blue was in Guthrie, when a student represented UCO in the first oratorical contest ever held in Oklahoma.

I have a female police officer that went to the college several years ago. She said the last time she knew the colors were blue and gold. The Mascot? she didn't remember since she attended more then one colledge. but was going to dig out her things to be sure before she confirmed it.
I'll get back with you if someone dosen't answer before I find out.
*is from Oklahoma*
Their mascot is a bronco. If you go to their sports website (http://www.bronchosports.com) then you'll see a picture of it.
Okay, co-worker just called back. She said the mascot is the bronco (as mentioned already) the colors (in her words) they are not a true bronze color or gold. It's like a darker gold and a lighter bronze." She said the "bronze" they mention doesn't have the coppery tones as the true bronze has.
Does that make sense?
hope it helps and didn't confuse you more.
well I think I understand what you are saying about the colors .... and the mascot! ... thank you again for the great replies .... ![]()
