How do you all transport your cakes? I have one I'm doing on Saturday and will be taking it to another location.

What do you put it in? I know there are cake boxes, but I have not seen them anywhere around here, in any stores. Where do I get them?

If I can't find any by Saturday, what else could I use?

I've never had to be the one responsible for moving a cake before!

Thanks icon_smile.gif

What I do is buy a cake box, you can get them at Michaels or Hobby Lobby and if you can't find them there I would check at your grocer's bakery and see if you can buy what you need from them. My suggestion would be to put non skid case liner under the cake board (in the box). The non skid case liner is also that "squishy" shelf paper you can buy at places like Wal-Mart. HTH

some of the folks here on cc use the rubbermaid totes. Sometimes if I don't have a regular cake box handy, I will use a milk crate with some cardboard in the bottom and then some of that no slip shelf paper in it. (if it isn't too big of a cake) or maybe even a banana box with the same no slip stuff in it. Hop this helps a little. Happy travelling. icon_biggrin.gif

I've used cardboard boxes scavenged from my office. a piece of non-skid shelf liner in side and one under the box and nothing moves.

Thanks for the help!

There is a hobby lobby somewhat close to here, that I just didn't look at yet. I will go there and check for boxes.

And I never thought to go to the bakery and ask them. Great idea!

And if all else fails...rubbermaid to the rescue! LOL

I've noticed on Ace of Cakes that Duff actually has someone watch the cake sometimes in the back of his van while in transit. If you have someone who can travel with you to deliver the cake to keep an eye on it, it may be reassuring! Or, even better, someone else can drive carefully while you watch the cake that you worked so hard on! Good luck! thumbs_up.gif

How big is your cake. I have carried them in plastic tubs when they didn't fit in a cake box I had or I get a regular cardboard box and wrap it in paper to give it a professional look to it.
