I know this may sound strange but remember I'm new at this. I was very lucky enough to get the 101 piece kit at Michaels for 50% off....so tonight I am going through it putting things away and checking off in my book what tips I have (yes....I know it sounds stupid but I do it because I have no idea what they are all used for) anyway I have 2 #21 tips but one looks like a closed star and the other open?? can someone tell me which is correct? I searched the tip pages and it lists only 1 type of #21 but I seem to have 2. In the 101 caddy came a tip mender, maybe I could try fixing the wrong tip?
I'm all excited about this kit now.....getting anxious to try some of the things. Thanks for any help you can offer. icon_smile.gif

hmmm, i have that 101 piece thing too and mine wasn't like that. an easy way would be to finish marking off your other tips and see which you don't have. then you could compare the one in the book that you don't have to the two in front of you.

lasidus1...yes those are the ones that came with this 101 kit but many many years ago I bought a kit to use for dimensional painting (never thought of using it for decorating cake hahaha) and the #21 that came with that set looks like a closed star tip. They are all uniformally bent over on one #21 and all uniformally upright on the other #21....which way "should" it be? I guess it doeson't matter in some ways, you could use it either way. I would just like to know which is the correct use if that makes sense. I really like the book that came with the kit too, I know what I'll be reading tonight icon_smile.gif

ohhhh. i get it. i think the straight one is the way it is supposed to be. it looks like a circle w/ spikes from the top.

I have seen both ways in the store, I think it is just the way they were made/shipped that day. Personnaly I prefer the tips straighter... i like the look of it. Try both and see what you like =)
