I need suggestions for a birthday cake for a 7 year old boy who is an avid hunter. He has requested camouflage but everything I have looked at is.... so ugly.

what kind of hunting?? that helps (not all are deer...some are bird, etc.)

and if you could stand it....do hunter's camo which is Blaze ORANGE and browns/blacks. (deer are colorblind...thankfully!)

and if he is a deer hunter...take a look at all the deer head cakes that look like how they mount the deer for display on the wall.

Thanks Doug.

Mostly deer hunting. I looked at the deer heads but he is very specific about the camo. I remember seeing a picture of a deer driving a car/truck with a hunter strapped to the top of the vehicle. Do you recall that or did I see it in a book?

Thanks,

Lisa

ok...camo it is then....

note how one several of these cakes the camo is done w/ fondant of different colors and then cut out w/ a leaf cookie cutter.

could do the same behind a 3-D deer head to.

see my comments on each cake.

found all of these in gallaries by searching on "deer"

HTH w/ sparking some ideas.

didnt' see truck w/ deer driving...that sounds like it came from a book, probably one of the Wilton yearbooks (and I looked at their site and didn't find one there)

There is a cute camo cake on birthdayexpress.com. If you go to the special forces section, and look for the cake topper. The top is a military theme, but the camo part is really cute - you could adapt it to a hunting theme.

I really like the one on here with the deer hving the hunter tied up. I can't remember who made it, but i made a version of it (didn't turn out near as good as original)for my daddy's b-day & my son & nephew (10&icon_cool.gif loved it. You could put camo around the sides of the cake.

edited to say : I don't know what's up with the cool symbol, I'm trying to say that my son is 10 & my nephew is 8. everytime i type in 8 it puts up the cool guy.

There's a difference between military camo and hunter camo...
Hunter camo is leaves, bark...
