My best friend's little girl, who is no more than a month and a half old has had some health issues, poor little thing.
Does anyone have suggestions or things that worked for them to clear them up?
1. Baby Acne
2. Thrush

I feel so sorry for my friend, she was stuck on bed rest the entire pregnancy and now the mumps are going around in WI and since the baby has not been vaccinated yet the doctor told her not to take the baby outside of the house.
And to top it all of, her husband is being a buttmunch right now about some stuff!

my neice had baby acne and my sister was told to wash her face with a mild baby soap and avoid putting lotions or baby oil on her face because it can make it worse. it should clear up in a couple of weeks. for the thrush it should clear up on its own in a couple weeks. if after 2 weeks there is no change then she needs to go to the dr and get some meds. maybe she can try giving the baby some tylenol or motrin. hope this helps

Thanks!
Found out from my friend that the doctor thinks the baby had it for almost 2 weeks, so she is on some meds now.
And to top it off, the baby has an ear infection too.
If I didn't have to work, I would be over there right now!

What a rough start in this world! Is mommy breast feeding? If so she needs to be treated for a yeast infection as well. When I had my son I had multiple complications, one of which was a yeast infection. My son was a breast fed baby and ended up with thrush. I did not know that the infection I had could come out in the milk and on the nipple area even though I had no symptoms there. Once we were both treated life got much better!

Thrush is a type of yeast infection. My youngest had it and it can become painful to swallow for the baby. We had to get an anti-fungal from the pediatrician and wipe it in her mouth. ugh, I hated thrush.

I used to use www.babycenter.com faithfully. They have invaluable information for new mothers much like CakeCentral does for bakers! icon_biggrin.gif For baby acne it states - "Don't scrub. Baby acne isn't caused by dirt. In fact, too much washing can further irritate it, so don't overdo the cleansing. Simply wash your baby's face with water and some mild baby soap once a day. Don't put creams or oils on his skin, either, because these can also make the acne worse. ..." Good luck.

I wish the baby was nursing, but my friend cannot make enough milk to have the baby thrive, so she is now bottle-fed. (She tried taking fenugreek but that did not increase her milk enough.)
I told her that if her husband does not get new pacifiers and bottle nipples for her by tomorrow I was going to buy them for her.
I did print some stuff off of the internet for her.
Thanks guys you rock!

I hated thrush! My middle child had it and we were prescribed some drops that I was supposed to squirt in each side of her mouth a few times a day. What I did not know (and a friend told me) is that when you stick the little dropper in their mouth it contaminates it and you should not stick it back into the bottle until it has been cleaned! We had to get a whole new bottle of meds. It didn't work, they prescribed something else. It didn't work. Then the same friend recomended I buy some acidophilous (sp?) capsules. Open one up mix with a little water and pour in the mouth. This is what finally cleared up our battle with thrush!!!

My son had baby acne too - and I made it worse by washing his face too much! I felt about as bad as he looked, poor thing, but it did eventually clear up, tell your friend to hang in there, this too shall pass.....

Don't know..I called her and LM a for her but haven't heard back....and I would call her tonight except my cell phone died and the hubby happens to have all the cell phone chargers on him icon_mad.gif (We both have the same cell phone and no land line.) And I do not feel like having a private conversation with my best friend at my in-law's house across the street.
I will let you know when I find out something though! thumbs_up.gif

With the infant acne that is like a reverse puberty its the mother's hormones leaving the baby's system. Now that she is on antibiotics it will clear up. But it will make the thrush worse she will need more time with the antifungal med. This is such a short time the infancy stage although it seems forever. Unfortunatly your friend will look back years from now and wish it was this easy.
