Ok, I've asked just about everything else on this forum, so now I'm going to ask the question that's on many of our minds. Hope it's cool with everyone that I'm asking about working from home. We are a great network here and offer all kinds of help and advice on a wide range of cake and non cake related topics, so I thought I'd come out and ask for ideas on working from home.

I make a very tiny amount of money doing odd things like selling on Ebay now and then and of course the occasional cake. I make a little money on online surveys, but that's somewhat spotty and just amounts to pocket change for the most part. Do any of you have a work from home job? Do you know of any that exist that are legitimate and don't require an investment?

I'd like to either work for someone else for pay, from my pc or if that doesn't work out maybe work for myself, but doing what??? That's the question. Kids are getting a little older and I'd really like to have a car during the day so we can get out and do things.

It's not a great idea to search for jobs online that are for stay at home moms... I don't trust the stuff the comes up!

Wish I could be the brainchild for some sort of home based business that could be shared by a network of moms. May sound absurd, but there are so many of us in this boat. Just seems like there should be an answer for us!

I've been to Dr. Laura's site because she has links with recommendations for those wishing to work from home, but it's all the same old stuff and none of it has inspired me. So, if you have an idea let me know. What do you all do to make a few extra dollars? Is there anything I should avoid? We could probably start an entire thread just on that! In the last couple years I've invested money into 2 home-based business ventures that later I realized I shouldn't have. Shame on me! I take the blame there. It taught me that I'm not a salesperson. I knew that, so what was I thinking?

If I could chose my perfect job it would be home-based, family friendly, and would somehow serve the Lord. It should be something I can feel good about. icon_wink.gif I feel like I'm an intelligent and creative person so why is it soooo hard to figure this out?

You are right...this is the million dollar question. I'm sure that we have all struggled with this at least once. Perhaps you could teach yourself to make simple websites. A lot of small businesses and churches want a small website that doesn't cost a lot. It doesn't take a lot of salesmanship to get them to sign on for $500 or so. Can you teach cake decorating? Make unique wedding ornaments to sell online?

I look forward to the responses you get!

Good Luck

My old babysitter, old as in I don't use her anymore, not her age, took an online medical transciptionist (sp?) class. She was able to type @ night or when the kids were sleeping or playing. She was paid per page so it was at her own pace how she was paid. I think she had some sort of min. to get done for the week. It turns out she's a very fast typer and very good at dictation so she made enough doing it, she stopped babysitting and is making very good money now. Seems to love it and the flexiablity with it.
Good luck

WOW! This sounds like the same question I asked on the forum a couple of days ago. I would love to make some money from home as well. Being a SAHM sometimes I would like to have a way to bring some money in. I too have done online surveys (yuck) and keep kids for friends every now and then. Still nothing really brings in much $$$$. I have prayed about it and prayed about it. I want to make at least enough to pay for my sons tuition at a private Christian school. It finally hit me that may be God is telling me I am trying to do too much as it is right now (volunteering, etc.) and maybe I should be focusing more on my kids and not worrying about making the ole' dollar. I know I will have plenty of time to work when they get older. (They are 6 & 3). God always has a way to work it out and I am sure that if I just step out of the way he will provide the money I think I need to be making.

(But if you find an answer to that million dollar question...let me know!!! icon_lol.gif )
