I was at a party supply store when I came across an old Wilton yearbook. I was in a hurry so I dont remember the details. I saw a technique in the book and I have not idea what it is called. The technique was putting a piece of laced fabric over fondant, you cover the fabric with royal icing, then you remove the fabric leavening a very neat design (looks just like the design on the fabric)
Does this make sense? Can anyone tell me what this is called?
Thanks ![]()
if you mean using it as a stencil to have a raised pattern in royal icing, it is frequently referred to as bas relief. True bas relief art is when the background is carved away leaving the raised image, but the effect that you get from doing what you mentioned could also be referred to as such.
