I am new to baking and decorating cakes, but really want to learn more. I've read alot of yall talk about fillings in your cakes, and I've never even had a cake with filling??! What kind of fillings do you mean? And how do you put them in a cake??
Is it whipped cream? Do you put it in between layers of cake, or do you actually bake it in the cake?
Thank you!!
You put it between the layers of the cake. Often people torte their layers (2x for a 3 inch cake for 3 layers of cake 2 layers of filling or torte each of their 2 inch layers, giving 4 layers of cake 3 layers of filling.) it is beautiful when cut and yummy!
You can fill with so many amazing recipes. Some of my favorites are lemon curd, raspberry, chocolate ganache, mint chocolate, baileys chocolate mousse. The choices are endless!
Don't forget to put a dam of frosting around the edge to keep the filling inside the cake. Use a #12 tip or no tip and just your coupler and squirt a nice dam about 1/4" from the edge of the cake. Bake your cakes the day ahead of time to give them time to rest so you do not have "the bulge".

In regards to the types of fillings. I use ready made fillings. Such as the ones in these links.
