I have to make a Henry cake for this week end and would love some advice as to how to go about putting it together. I see there have been a lot of train cakes done on here so hopefully someone can help. I want to cover it in fondant and not buttercream. Someone has suggested making the main body in a sponge roll tin. All your ideas please. Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks Merrissa, Seems I may have to use buttercream as it will be a bit tricky with fondant.

A lot of people use the 3D train pan as the base, and cover that with fondant. That may be easier to do as it does not require carving. Good luck!

In a few weeks I'm going to try the one on this site:

I like that it still looks like a cake. thumbs_up.gif

He turned out great! I noticed it in the gallery today. Turns out I am going to do a Thomas one in a couple of weeks. Any tips? Did you cover each section separately with fondant? How did you do the wheels?

I too am doing a Thomas next week and would like to cover it in fondant. Any suggestions would be great. Yours turned out great, Briarview. Also how many did it end up feeding?
